Wearing of Glasses: a number of teams have queried the situation with regard to player's who wear glasses during a match. The response we have had from the Berks & Bucks County FA is the following - "The line with regard to wearing of glasses is one for the actual match referee to make. They must decide if, in their opinion, it is safe for the player(s) to wear glasses. They should be aware of the improved materials that are now used for manufacture. As with all matches, it is the responsibility of the match referee to use his/her judgement with regards all safety aspects".
Whilst we may get to know our own local referees who will permit the use of glasses, it should be noted that it is possible to travel to away games and come across referees who take a different view. Should a referee not permit a player to wear glasses, there is unfortunately NOTHING that we as a club can do about it. thanks.
